Project Overview

The first We Are EDN concept in the EMEAA region launched in the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station. Hilton’s in-house creative consultancy, StiR Creative Collective, dreamt up the We Are EDN concept and contracted WeWantMore to create a restaurant that reflects their sustainable vision through bold colours, natural materials, and curated artwork from local artists.

The design called for a flexible all-day dining experience, encouraging community and conscious enjoyment from morning to night.

Design Challenge

The design challenge was twofold: to create a space that felt rooted in nature, while also capturing the creative energy of Amsterdam. A key part of this was curating artwork from Dutch artists that reflected the city’s identity.

One highlight was a site-specific mural of flowering tulips, which established an authentic connection to local culture. The mural needed to express the client’s vision for a colourful aesthetic, while still harmonising with the restaurant’s natural material palette.

Interior Design & Local Artwork

Vibrant tones like forest green, terracotta orange, and natural wood make the space feel cosy, while artwork showcasing Dutch tulips reinforces the local narrative.

A mural by Jordy van den Nieuwendijk, showcasing Amsterdam icons, adorns closing cabinet doors, allowing the interior design to transition between meal services. Amsterdam’s three-X symbol appears as a ceiling installation, while patterned seating, green tiling, and lush plant life create a lively and expressive interior.

Project Outcome

The We Are EDN restaurant delivers a design-led, sustainable hospitality experience that connects nature, community, and Amsterdam’s creative spirit within an all-day dining environment.

“Winning Best Hotel Restaurant Design in Europe for WE ARE EDN is an incredible honour and a testament to what meaningful collaboration can achieve. This concept was born from a simple idea -to create a crowd-pleasing eating and drinking experience rooted in the nature of things and genuine human connection -and seeing it recognised on this stage is deeply rewarding. My sincere thanks to the brilliant interior design studio We Want More and the Hilton EMEA design team, whose creative vision shaped the soul of the space.”

— Fayaz Nazeer, Senior Director of Brand Development EMEA
