Growing an optician

Year:
2023

The client came to us with a clear vision: to create a retail space that reflects their commitment to sustainability, just as they do with their carefully curated eyewear collections. Our challenge was to translate that ethos into a warm, engaging interior that feels personal and purposeful.

We responded by embedding sustainability into every aspect of the design. At the core of the space are 3D-printed columns made from recycled coffee cups and mycelium by Blast Studio—serving as both striking visual elements and functional displays.

Behind the display wall, handmade cellulose acetate panels subtly reference eyewear materials, while the “Acetate Forest”—a sculptural arrangement of acetate sheets—creates a serene, nature-inspired area for client consultations.

The result is a retail environment that’s not only visually compelling but also deeply aligned with the brand’s values of sustainability, craftsmanship, and personal connection.

"We’re testing the possibilities of integrating future materials like mycelium into an actual retail environment." — Ruud Belmans, Creative Director at WeWantMore
