Bath & Barley

- Belgian Beer Culture Reimagined

Bathing in Belgium's first beer spa

When two Belgian friends returned from a memorable trip to the Czech Republic, they came to us with an ambitious idea: to bring the concept of beer spas to Belgium. From the very beginning, we helped shape Bath & Barley—from naming and branding to the complete interior design.

During our research, we found that most Czech beer spas leaned heavily toward the "beer" side of the experience, with dark interiors, neon lighting, and a pub-like atmosphere. But for our clients, the goal was to create a calming wellness environment that still paid homage to beer and Belgium’s brewing heritage.

To create a space that felt intimate yet rooted in tradition, we layered natural materials throughout. On the upper floor, dried barley and hops hang from the ceiling, softening the warm lighting and adding a subtle perfume to the air. Textural contrasts like exposed brick, raw concrete, and Belgian blue stone anchor the space in an earthy palette. Custom details, like a steel staircase railing featuring knights, kettles, and barrels, blur the line between visual identity and spatial design, bringing the Bath & Barley story to life in every corner.

“With Bath & Barley, we set out to elevate the beerspa from a familiar, often playful concept into a refined experience rooted in Belgian beer culture. Together with WeWantMore, we translated that ambition into a high-quality, design-led wellness concept. A clear step up from what people may know from places like Prague. The strong response from both locals and international visitors, in Brussels and Bruges, confirms the success of that approach, proving there is real demand for a more premium and culturally grounded interpretation of beer.”
