A New Chapter for WeWantMore: David Van der Auwera Becomes CEO
Studio | 02 Feb2026
WeWantMore has appointed David Van der Auwera as Chief Executive Officer. The appointment signals a deliberate shift in the studio’s strategy: moving beyond the traditional agency model to operate as a commercial partner for global Hospitality groups and FMCG leaders, designed to create limitless potential for the brands it works with.
Van der Auwera, a business builder with an agency background and a successful exit to a VC-backed competitor, joins to align the studio’s creative output with the financial targets of its clients.
Design as a Business Asset
In a market tightening around efficiency and ROI, the “black box” agency model is obsolete. Van der Auwera’s remit is to build an operational infrastructure that matches the speed and scale required by international real estate investors and consumer goods conglomerates, without diluting the studio’s award-winning creative product.
“The next generation of agencies won’t just be judged on aesthetics, but on business resilience,” says David Van der Auwera, CEO. “CEOs in hospitality and FMCG are facing massive pressure to innovate faster. They don’t need a service provider; they need a partner who understands that design is a capital investment that requires a return. We are structuring WeWantMore to deliver that return.”
Dual Leadership Structure
The move allows Co-Founder Ruud Belmans to focus exclusively on the studio’s creative output as Executive Creative Director. This duality—Van der Auwera on growth and operations, Belmans on product and culture—ensures clients receive high-level strategic counsel backed by uncompromising design execution and lasting creative impact.
Global Expansion
This leadership change supports WeWantMore’s focused international growth. Following the launch of its London studio in Clerkenwell to serve the UK market, the studio is actively expanding its portfolio in the Middle East, handling increasingly complex, large-scale branding, hospitality and F&B assignments.
“This is not a sudden change. We’ve been preparing WeWantMore for this next phase for quite some time by building a strong senior team and a solid foundation. That allows us to scale without ever compromising on the level of creativity and quality our clients expect from us,” says Ruud Belmans, “Bringing David on board is a deliberate step forward. The studio will keep evolving, but our ambition stays the same: to remain highly relevant and to keep building work that creates that unlimited potential.”
